This is us...

Sweet Moonshine was our first rescue horse, 

She came to us before we had our own rescue and well before we even understood what "rescue" meant.  

We quickly learned that this "gentle giant" had been used and abused. 

 We did everything we could to love her and care for her, but the damage had been done. The wounds she carried, both on her body and in her heart, 

had done too much damage. Early one summer morning, 

we gave her one last bath, 

brushed her beautiful mane and tail one last time,

 and covered her with soft kisses, 

until it was time for her to peacefully go over the Rainbow Bridge

 to greener pastures. Since then we have worked diligently and prayed long and hard for our rescue-sanctuary, so we could help other horses like Moonshine, 

who through no fault of their own, have been "used up"

 and then thrown away in the 

cruelest manner possible.
